Piece number 53 (03/30/07). My hand is feeling better and I was able to stay awake the entire day. I saw this tree with these blooms on it and was intrigued. it did not turn out exactly how I envisioned it - but I am happy with the end result.

Ooooppppsss - I honestly feel asleep last night between 8:30 and 9 and did not get an artwork done. I woke up briefly around 11:30 and realized this, but was too sleepy to think and more specifically to use a knife. This has not been a good week for me.

Piece number 52 (03/28/07). My hand is feeling better - dont get me wrong I am still in pain, but it is functional at this point. I wanted to do something simple as to not kill the motion I have left. Well this weekend a friend gave my husband a play he has written about gaming. Many jokes were thrown out - quite a few about a 20-sided die - so this is where today’s work came from.

I am sorry to report, today is another medical day. My pinkie is still jutting painfully to the side. Luckily the throbbing in other parts of my hand has gotten better -though my accessory muscle is bulding out of my hand. Hopefully tomorrow it will be OK. I blame video games for this.

For those that don’t know I have had some hand issues for the past 13 years. After seeing many doctors with no answers and no help, this past summer I had surgery to help see what was going on. Turns out I have an extra part - what they call an “accessory muscle”. The doctor was not too sure what is all controls - but it causes me to not to have a lot of room in my hand, so sometimes I lose control of my fingers and it is mighty painful. In addition to that my doctor felt I had done some damage to my ulnar nerve (funny bone) so my pinkie sometimes points out painfully to the side.
Today my hand is in some serious pain. I let it rest on the weekends, so that I do not get to this point. I took it easy this weekend, so not sure why it is this bad today. Hopefully tomorrow it will feel Ok enough so I can do an artwork.

Piece number 50 (03/23/07). I had a meeting today at a local coffeehouse. Now I don’t like coffee, but the place SMELLED amazing. I did have a spiced chai smoothie (ie milkshake) and let me say it was worth the $3.50 - it was FANTASTIC!

Piece number 49 (03/22/07). I had something else in mind for today, but as I sat at my drafting table I kept staring at my lamp. I never noticed everything that makes this simple thing up - but today it just clicked in my mind.

Piece number 48 (03/21/07). I normally dont do cartoonish things, but I could not resist. Today my husband was given 2 kinder eggs as a wedding present and this little guy was in one of them (eat your heart out Woody). He is cute and fuzzy and I love my minature new toy. The real thing is maybe an inch tall and his name is pending.

Piece number 47 (03/20/07). Today’s piece was more for the purposes of trying a new technique - using embossing. It may be hard to see, but all the seeds are in embossed indentations to make it looks more like an actual strawberry. This was a pain to make.

Piece number 46 (03/19/07). Well I am back - and married. I thought I would have a large amount of ideas in the hopper while taking this break, that did not happen. My wedding took over my life - I feel in these past 2 weeks I have only really had 3 days off total.
Well today’s piece is something that has bugged me for awhile. On the 1/2 mile stretch of road I drive daily to get to/from my house there are 4 crosswalks - this seems excessive to me. Plus pedestrians really need to learn the rules. I know people who know me have heard this rant before -so if so, stop reading now. Even if there is a crosswalk, you still need to look both ways. Also if you are not in a crosswalk at least stop before walking into the street. In college (Florida State) this would drive me crazy, there was a crosswalk every 10 feet on campus though people did not feel the need to use them. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in crosswalks and always stop to let people cross - I just appreciate those who know the rules.
