One a (week)day: Day 111 – Lotus Flower

Piece number 111 (07/31/07). I am a bit stressed and wanted to do something calming. I am a bit more relaxed and am happy with this piece. Stacking order with flowers is generally a pain, but this one went quite well I think. I love the pod in this – all the little seed areas were embossed and I think I did it right this time. (That’s my favorite part)

One a (week)day: Day 109 – Moon

Piece number 109 (07/27/07). Today’s piece is based on the theme from Illustration Friday of “Moon”. This was a difficult subject for me. I had initially planned on doing a spacewalk, but my fear is that I did not have enough information to pull off a successful astronaut. So I was scrambling for a subject for over an hour. I have wanted to do an owl for some time, but a really cute one. This was a bit different technically than how I usually work – but I think that is what I am trying to get out of illustration friday, trying new things and thinking of other ways to work.

–UPDATE– Original has been sold. A limited edition of 100 giclee prints are now available for $30 ($25 for the print and $5 for USPS Priority mail) INTL customers please email me for shipping costs. Also framing is available for an additional $30. All prints are on an art paper with a hand-cut signature.

–UPDATE 11/07/08– Reposting this for the weekly illustration friday theme of “wise”. This was a good fit, so I posting it. Again I wish I had time to create a new work, but I am working on a larger piece I need to get done. Lately I am having problems finding time to even make it into the studio at all.

One a (week)day: Day 108 – Holding Hands

Piece number 108 (07/26/07). I went to see a new doctor to look at my hand today. I was hoping for a bit more – but am happy to see he is going to try something different for a month and see what happens. I have been told that physical therapy is not going to be pleasant. He stated that I have been screwed over a lot with this, and he is going to do his best not to do the same. I know this is a simpler piece, but I am trying to spend as much time as I can framing work for my show next week – I still have at least 40 pieces to frame. (YIKES!!!!)

One a (week)day: Day 107 – Keyboard

Piece number 107 (07/25/07). I did get this completed a few minutes before midnight. I was SOOOO tired while doing it I almost gave up, but I finished it and just went to bed. Yesterday was tiring. I worked with my husbands band selling merch at the Vans Warped Tour. I had a lot of fun, met a bunch of people, also found a few new bands I like (My favorite being guff). Though being in sun and on my feet for 10 hours was mighty tiring.

Medical Day
Today my hand is feeling something a bit different. The pain is a bit above normal, but my fingers are reluctant to bend more than a little bit. They feel like old rubber bands which are about to snap. It is hard to hold anything smaller than a cup. Eating dinner was a bit difficult – I think brushing my teeth is going to be a hoot!

One a (week)day: Day 105 – Poem

Piece number 105 (07/20/07). Today’s piece is based on the theme from Illustration Friday of “Poem”. I found this to be the most difficult theme provided thus far – I just could not think of a way to illustrate this. I was toying with writing a poem and illustrating it, then the process of writing was the image in my head. Since I do not like how writing comes out in this size in this style (think it looks a bit cheesy) I went for the universal sign of writing – the squibble.

One a (week)day: Day 104 – Errands

Piece number 104 (07/19/07). Today I spent most of my day in the car running around the area. It seemed I was doing errands all day. Though I did get quite a bit done (and spent too much $$$) I got a majority of the supplies I need to frame a bulk of these one-a-day artworks for my upcoming show.
