One a (week)day: Day 135 – Metro

September 6, 2007

Piece number 135 (09/06/07). For people not familiar with the DC area, this is the map of the DC metro. So my whole day was spent either on the metro, waiting for the metro, on the bus, waiting for the bus, or just waiting. I had a doctor appointment today (which the doctor was running an hour behind) and I had to take the metro and a bus to get there. It turns out I will be having a fairly minor ‘procedure’ on my pinkie in the near future – though it should help with the pain. It was pretty hot outside and I got pretty wiped out.

5.25″x 5.25″:: $45 unframed original piece, $75 framed original piece. Once the original sells, limited edition giclee prints will be available at $25 (unframed)

— Q&A –
From garth (http://www.artofgarth.com/) “Cut paper, it feels so familiar and welcoming. Very nicely done. Doesn’t your hand hurt after creating one of these?”
Some days are better than others. My hand tends to feel a lot worse when I first wake up. These do hurt my hands, but even when I do not do an artwork my hand hurts. It has had some issues for quite a long time – though I am working on getting it better. Right now one of my fingers only has 38% of the strength of a normal person, I think my highest finger has 68% strength of a normal person – which both numbers are improvements. Even with these low numbers I can close the lid of a jar or bottle with an amazing amount of force, my husband generally has to use pliers to open anything I close.

    Dear Sherrill,

I volunteer for an online artists’ community called Artella (www.artellaland.com). One of the sections in our Daily Newsletter (the Daily Muse) features a map of the day. Would you be willing to let us post a low-resolution image of your DC Metro map? It’s great–and perfect for the “Today’s Map” section.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Take care!

    Leslie Dupont

the art

All my artwork is made of paper. It is only created using paper, glue, and patience. The works on this site represent the pieces that I am attempting to create each weekday. These pieces are available to purchase and once an original is sold prints will become available. Other work can be viewed on my main site - www.sagworks.com. Larger works are available to purchase as originals or prints through sagworks.com. I am also available for commissioned pieces.
