Day 165 – Orchid (Grow)

Piece number 165 (10/19/07). Now today’s work is again from Illustration Friday and the theme is “Grow”. I know I have done a few flowers already this week. But with theme and a combination of having someone suggest an orchid and having an orchid already on my mind made it seem like this is what I was meant to do today. I dont feel this is best rendering of a flower – but I like it. I had a lot of problems concentrating on this.

One a (week)day: Day 164 – Bird of Paradise

Piece number 164 (10/18/07). Now today’s work did put me in a better mood. The colors make me smile. I went with a simpler subject again today, b/c my hand is still hurting from Tuesday’s piece. I am having surgery in 2 weeks to help out and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will work. If this one works, I may be able to get the same procedure done on some other fingers.

Piece number 163 (10/17/07). Normally I work on flowers because they make me happy and put me in a good mood. Today that is not the case, I am still in a bad mood.

One a (week)day: Day 162 – Pill

Piece number 162 (10/16/07). In honor of my dad’s surgery and for a suggestion made by Erica, today’s theme is pill. Actually this is more of a capsule medication. The contents of the pill is made up of probably 1000 little pieces of paper. I lost count after 700, but kept cutting for a long time after that number. My hand is KILLING ME – I do not remember when it has hurt this bad.

–UPDATE 07/21/08– Original has been sold. A limited edition of 100 digital prints are now available for $30 ($25 for the print and $5 for USPS Priority mail) INTL customers please email me for shipping costs. Also framing is available for an additional cost. All prints are on an art paper with a hand-cut signature.

No new work for Monday 10/15

Sorry,  but no new work for today. My dad had his next surgery and things went better than expected – so good that as of right now he may not need to have a third if his recovery went well. Though today has been emotionally tough so I am going to crash tonight. I’ll be working again tomorrow.

Octopus has been sold – now available as prints.

The original is off to a new home – but prints are now available for 100 other people’s homes. Each piece is available in a limited edition run of 100. One a (week)day: Day 161 – Extreme

Piece number 161 (10/12/07). It is again Friday meaning today’s piece is based on the theme from Illustration Friday of “Extreme”. At first my mind went to extreme sports and then that thought migrated to extreme fashion. Now I know this piece is no where near extreme fashion – but I think the colors and the ridiculous boots illustrate the idea nicely. (To anyone who owns these boots, I apologize – I find them silly. Are they boots, heel, or a sneaker?)

Piece number 160 (10/11/07). Today I went with ArtJumble’s theme of “Witches – Ghosts – Goblins “. Obviously I chose to do a witch. It’s based on a Halloween costume. I figured I should do a witch who is all ready to go out and ‘party’. She is all dressed up and making her brew (or perfume?) I a happy with how her gown turned out. Now I just need ArtJumble to accept me, so I can start posting on their site too.

One a (week)day: Day 159 – Octopus

Piece number 159 (10/10/07). I fell in love with this photo of the octopus on the glass, though technically could not figure out the best way to approach this. Today I got a late start on the piece, but I figured out how I wanted to approach it and I could not be happier. This was a lot of cutting and my hand is already killing me – tomorrow I will be paying for this!

One a (week)day: Day 158 – Strategy

Piece number 158 (10/09/07). Been planning this piece for some time now. I spent so much time on the board, that I had to omit a few of the pieces (that and my back started to ache). Though the board is completely level made up of 2 different papers, so I am very proud of how it turned out – I never get pieces to fit together perfectly.
