A Holiday Print order will be going in on Monday

If your interested in buying a print for a holiday gift – now is the time. I’ll be submitting a print order on Monday so if interested in something as a holiday gift please let me know this weekend. In case the prints don’t arrive from the printer in time, I will be offering an email card to the recipient (or to the buyer to send) with their print image and a holiday greeting.

I normally order prints as purchased, but this is the last date to place an order for there to be a chance of arriving in you mailbox by Dec. 23.  Thanks!

One a (week)day: Day 190 – Excess

113007-excess.jpg

Piece number 190 (11/30/07). It’s been a week and again this piece is for Illustration Friday with the theme being “Excess”. So many things are done to excess, eating, working, drinking – the list just goes on and on….

My day was quite tiring and I was not sure how much time I’d have today to work on a piece. Tomorrow is day 1 of the craft show – Festival of Lights in Greenbelt, MD which I am participating in. I spent the day finishing up what needed to be done. If in the area come on by and find me and introduce yourself. I’ll have artwork, prints, and carious crafts for sale. My booth is listed under “2 chicks”.

4″x 6″:: $45 unframed original piece, $75 framed original piece. Once the original sells, limited edition prints (of 100) will be available for $25 (unframed)

Email for availability and payment directions or for more information – like larger and more detailed images.

One a (week)day: Day 189 – Mixer

112907-mixer.jpg
Piece number 189 (11/29/07). This started out with the suggestion of toaster. I could not get the basic design of that to match what I had imagined and I found a picture of a hand mixer and it went from there. I am fascinated by this whisk attachment. I would like this mixer at some point. When I have a big kitchen with a lot of counter space it will be mine, and yes it will be baby pink! I figured this could be a sister piece to Day 81 – Rotary, using the same colors and both the objects can be associated with one another.

–UPDATE 07/21/08– Original has been sold. A limited edition of 100 digital prints are now available for $30 ($25 for the print and $5 for USPS Priority mail) INTL customers please email me for shipping costs. Also framing is available for an additional cost. All prints are on an art paper with a hand-cut signature.

6″x 4″:: $45 unframed original piece, $75 framed original piece. Once the original sells, limited edition prints (of 100) will be available for $30 shipped. (unframed)

One a (week)day: Day 187 – Porcupine

112707-porcupine.jpg
Piece number 187 (11/27/07). Again another animal – this one was quite a challenge. Check out the details to see the multitude of quills. I think I went a bit overboard making those – though I think it looks pretty good. I am also really happy with how the log turned out.

One a (week)day: Day 186 – Lion Fish

112607-lion-fish.jpg
Piece number 186 (11/26/07). This was runner up to Friday’s piece. I have wanted to do a lion fish for some time, but not until today was I excited about doing it. Fins are not the easiest to do, but I always feel quite accomplished after I get them done. Check out the details to see the stripes, they are the same level as the body, I just LOVE the way that turns out in the end.

There will be quite a few animals this week – we can blame “The Zoo” theme from Illustration Friday – it made me do some research and I found some new animals I wanted to create.

One a (week)day: Day 185 – The Zoo

112307-zoo.jpg
Piece number 185 (11/23/07). It’s been a week and now it’s time for another installment of Illustration Friday with the theme being “The Zoo”. I LOVE this topic. I just adore going to zoo, aquariums, and such. The hardest part of this theme was choosing which animal to do. So I though about past zoo experiences and one story is particular came to mind.

My husband and I were at the aquarium’s rain forest exhibit. He said, “Hey! look its a sloth.” I could not find it in the trees. He just kept pointing for the next five minutes and I still could not find it. At this point one of the keepers came over and tried to help. Everytime he pointed and said it’s right there his voice got louder and louder and louder – he was getting frustrated with me because I could not see this small brown blog attached to a tree branch. Finally after another 10 minutes the little guy (the sloth) scratched his butt and I saw him and I have been in love with sloths every since.

Take a look at the details – there was a lot of work done to the paper. And I love his little nose.

There are quite a few other pieces I have done this year which would have also been perfect for this theme. Take a look through the other 184 previous pieces done this year to find them. (Hints: frog, elephant, peacock, giraffe, flamingo, seahorse, octopus, koi, grasshopper, monkey, chameleon, and more)

Happy Turkey Day!

I ended up spending the whole day either baking or with my family – so no artwork today. I had all intentions of working today, but time got away from me. All for the best – my hand still hurts from yesterday.

One a (week)day: Day 184 – Snowflake

112107-snowflake.jpg
Piece number 184 (11/21/07). No, its not snowing here – just felt this might be pretty. I have killed my hand though. My new scar is throbbing and my other fingers are quite stiff and locking up – so tomorrow a work may be iffy. Either way I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

UPDATE 092909 I am posting this for this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “magnify”. You have to magnify a snowflake pretty high in order to see how they are all different.

the art

All my artwork is made of paper. It is only created using paper, glue, and patience. The works on this site represent the pieces that I am attempting to create each weekday. These pieces are available to purchase and once an original is sold prints will become available. Other work can be viewed on my main site - www.sagworks.com. Larger works are available to purchase as originals or prints through sagworks.com. I am also available for commissioned pieces.
