Cutting some letters…

So I think this is the last of the lettering I needed to cut for my artomatic space. I think this will work nicely on the bottom of the wall. And the bottom picture I just thought looked cool.

More framing….

I am so happy with how this frame job turned out. I did all the measurements and had the mat marked up ready for cutting last night. I got into the studio tonight and realized the frame was 2″ bigger than a size requirement for a show I am hoping to hang sunflower in. I reworked it all and actually cut a really good mat (practice does make perfect). Though once I started to place everything it turns out the piece is thicker than the mat. I tried adding another layer of mat board - but the piece is thicker than 2 pieces of matboard - so I had to use foamcore. I like the final look a lot!

This piece is going to hang at Montpelier Mansion in Laurel, MD May 3 - May 29. The Montpelier Festival of Herbs, Tea and the Arts is going to be held this weekend and as part of that there will be an opening reception for the show 2-4pm.

Artomatic setup is finished

My husband and I finished my installation of my art for Artomatic. We did the bulk of the work yesterday and went in today to do some finishing touches. I think my wall looks pretty snazzy. The only thing I think I am going to add is to cut out my website address to go along the bottom of the wall. After my framing frenzy this past week, I forgot about another show I need to drop off work for - so sadly, I am back to framing.

Officially, my location at Artomatic is Space:5th flr, NE, D4

Friday April 25, 2008 - Framing

So after 4 days I finished all my framing. The framing went really well. I guess after framing 100+ pieces I am finally getting the hang of it. Nothing had to be resealed, everything fit wonderfully into the frames - just popped in.They all look so good to. My husband is wiring the backs as I type. The studio is a nice place to frame - plenty of space, clean, and more comfortable temperature wise too.

Mark your calenders ARTOMATIC open May 9th

artomatic

So Artomatic is opening soon - May 9th. Only 2 weeks away. It should be a great event. I am in a framing frenzy to get a bunch of never shown pieces framed and ready to hang in my space. I had to run around the area today to get the last of the frames that I use. Tonight will be day 3 of framing. I spent one day cutting boards and cutting a few window mats and day 2 was spent cutting the rest of the window mats and cutting out some lettering. I want to get everything ready to have a great display with a lot of work to see.

Hyattsville Interview for Brazillian TV

So for everyone in Brazil here is a photo of me being interviewed. I hope someone will recognize the woman interviewing me to help give a clue as to which station this might air on. I really wish I was more photogenic!

Hyattsville Arts Festival was great.

Thanks everyone the Festival was great. I sold a few works and met a lot of great people. I got my work out there for people to see and that was what I wanted to do. I even got a crab cake!!!!

I also got interviewed by a Brazilian TV station - so if anyone in Brazil sees me let me know…

April 17, 2008 : Pole Vault for Illustration Friday - Fail

{click for a larger image} 04/17/08. This piece made me happy to work on - I enjoyed it. I am also happy with the outcome. Hopefully I can get back to working like this regularly. So this is for the Illustration Friday theme of “fail”. This piece needs some explaining to make sense. When I saw the theme posted I thought it was dead on, since I have been feeling like a failure these past few weeks. Though I kept thinking about the subject and I kept thinking about how no matter how great you are at something there was a point where you probably failed at it. Each failure helped you improve and get better - so I wanted to create something that illustrates fail in a positive way.

6″x 4″ :: $150 framed original piece. Email for availability and payment directions or for more information - like larger and more detailed images.

I LOVE the detail of the show - its my favorite part!

Saturday is the Hyattsville Arts Festival and I will be making all the one-a-(week)day pieces available for sale. So if you have you eye on something, let me know.

Don’t forget, let me know what piece you would like to see on my next postcard - leave a comment!

Artwork Status - April 16, 2008

Well I hope today marks the day my funk is starting to fade away. I was able to work in the studio for close to 4 hours tonight. I worked on a piece, and actually enjoyed doing so. For the past month I have been forcing myself to work and I could not concentrate for more than an hour - but today I was more like my 2007 art self. I really hope my creative lull is coming to an end. This piece should be done tomorrow and is based on the Illustration Friday theme of “Fail” - but the piece has a positive vibe to it. Yeah!

the art

All my artwork is made of paper. It is only created using paper, glue, and patience. The works on this site represent the pieces that I am attempting to create each weekday. These pieces are available to purchase and once an original is sold prints will become available. Other work can be viewed on my main site - www.sagworks.com. Larger works are available to purchase as originals or prints through sagworks.com. I am also available for commissioned pieces.
