Tonights opening at Artomatic went great. My day started there at 9:30 helping out and I was working my volunteer shift on-site until 5:30. Then I got to sit, meet some great people, and talk about my art. I am physically exhausted - but it was worth every minute. There is a lot of great art this year and it is worth checking out. I even sold robot during the show - and it is another great sale to someone who has believed in me for the past few years. It was a pleasure to meet him.
When I got home (few minutes ago) I even got a letter from the Durham Arts Council that I have been selected to show my work in the Allenton Gallery in The Durham Arts Council Building in Durham, NC. More information will come soon - but if in the Durham area the show is scheduled for June 12 - August 2, 2009.
Also when we got home, I found one my fish has passed away. My albino plecostomaus - She-ra is no longer with us. She was a great fish who was part of the family for 7 years and had grown to over 14inches long. I loved her a lot and she will be missed. I talked about her a little bit on Day 83: Signs-Pisces.

So, instead of waiting for my copy I went out and found one locally. I LOVE it! This magazine is so well done with beautiful images from a slew of different kinds of artists. I highly recommend it (and not just because I am in it). Artful Blogging can be found online and at local stores (Borders, Barnes & Noble, etc)

Also, one a misc. note I just went and upload the new version of my website, sagworks 4.0

In case your interview the posted the interview from the Hyattsville Arts Festival on April 19. Most of it in Portuguese. I dont really think I sound like that and it is not my best angle - but I think it is pretty cool. If you want to skip ahead to seeing me I start at the 3:40 mark. I am actually the image they use for the you tube thumbnail image. Enjoy!

Day 175-Hats (shopping) has just sold. I am proud to say the person who bought it was the first person to join my mailing list some 4-years ago. It was so nice to get meet the actual person and even better she wanted and bought a piece. I am currently awaiting a proof from the printer - but it should be here soon. This print is available for $25 (+shipping) and is a run of 100 and has a hand-cut signature. Email for availability and payment directions or for more information.

Also, I am awaiting a proof of another piece. I am making available a 12″ x 9″ print of Hula Girl. The digital print will cost $50 and is archival and be limited to a run of 100 pieces. This too will have a hand cut signature. The samples which I printed out looks fabulous - and the professional prints tend to look 100x better than from my printer - so I am excited! The original of this is still available framed for $250. Email for availability and payment directions or for more information.

I will be showing 2 pieces Trumpet Lily and Lotus at a Laurel Art Guild group show at Snow Hill Manor in Laurel, MD. The show is opening May 9 (same as Artomatic) and will run through July 3. The Manor is hosting a reception on Thursday May 15 from 6-8pm. It should be a wonderful show. For more information on the venue and for more information on Laurel Art Guild check out their sites.

{click for a larger image} 05/04/08. This piece is for the Illustration Friday theme of “seed”. This is the first thing which came to mind when I saw the theme so I went for it. I generally do not like cleaning peppers because the seeds tend to get everywhere - but I always marvel at the pepper construction - it has such an interesting inside. This was a lot of work to make the center portion - but I think it was worth it. I am again happy with the end result. I love it when things come out like they do in my mind (which does not happen as often as I like).
6″x 4″ :: $150 framed original piece. Email for availability and payment directions or for more information - like larger and more detailed images.
