Tangled Tryst - Poem to Day 126 - Tango

Every Artomatic the mystery poet Brash writes a poem inspired by artists’ art. I have had 2 Brash poems in the past and this is my third.

Tangled Tryst

Against each other we progress
Conceding
Even as we persist

In measured slow caress.
Both of us leading
Leaning as we resist

Being led, this
Wordless reading
Of bending spine and wrist.

Across the floor, we press
Our mutual needing
Into and towards a tangled tryst.

Brash if you mind me posting this, please let me know and I will remove it. Though I want to tell you I LOVE it and thank you for taking the time to write this.

051508 - Electricity

{click for a larger image} 05/15/08. This piece is for the Illustration Friday theme of “Electricity”. My first thought when I saw this theme was passion. That electricity between 2 people! What can I say, I am a sucker for love! Like I said earlier I am in a tattoo phase - so I wanted to add a little something different to her than the ‘normal’ version of beauty. Things that are different in all of us is what make us each beautiful. I am really proud of her hair (which took a bit of planning) and the hands - I thing you can feel him embracing her.

Now this is not 100% done - it needs a background and the gentleman still needs fingernails. I did not have the materials I needed at hand - so I will add these this weekend and update this post with the completed image.

Roughly 5″x 7″ :: $200 framed original piece. Email for availability and payment directions or for more information - like larger and more detailed images.

051408-Electricty Status

Electricy is looking good! I have over half of it done and I am loving it. I did not work yesterday b/c my sinuses are hurting again and I took some meds. I try to mix medication and cutting. I think it is a bad combo! I hope to get time to finish it tomorrow - I would like to post it before the Illustration Friday theme changes.

So its been almost a week now and I don’t think I mentioned it -but I put up my new website, sagworks 4.0. It only has a small sample of my artwork (majority is and will continue to be here on the blog) Though I do have a complete calendar of my artshows through google calendars (if interested). www.sagworks.com

051208 - Status of Electricity

Here is a peak of what I am working on for the Illustration Friday theme of “Electricity”. These are 2 tattoos. My plan is to burnish them onto the ’skin’ to make it look more level. I tried to keep these as thin as I could. I was having some issues with the black. For some reason the studio was feeling quite damp today. I used damp rid to keep my paper dry - but we have had 2 days of constant rain here. So when the paper gets moist it turns more difficult to work with, especially very thin pieces.

I really wanted to make tattoos for this because I am in a tattoo mood. I have wanted a tattoo for awhile, and had settled on getting my book characters on my back after I finish the book. Though I dont want to wait that long. I think I have decided to get my x-acto knife I use on the top of my back and then I’ll add the characters under that. This has all been sparked b/c at Artomatic there is a Victorian Tattoo Parlor on the 12th floor. It is so well done and has 2 amazingly talented and nice tattoo artists working in it. Worth checking out! ( Paul Roe and Cynthia Rudzis at BritishInk DC)

The Artomatic opening went well

Tonights opening at Artomatic went great. My day started there at 9:30 helping out and I was working my volunteer shift on-site until 5:30. Then I got to sit, meet some great people, and talk about my art. I am physically exhausted - but it was worth every minute. There is a lot of great art this year and it is worth checking out. I even sold robot during the show - and it is another great sale to someone who has believed in me for the past few years. It was a pleasure to meet him.

When I got home (few minutes ago) I even got a letter from the Durham Arts Council that I have been selected to show my work in the Allenton Gallery in The Durham Arts Council Building in Durham, NC. More information will come soon - but if in the Durham area the show is scheduled for June 12 - August 2, 2009.

Also when we got home, I found one my fish has passed away. My albino plecostomaus - She-ra is no longer with us. She was a great fish who was part of the family for 7 years and had grown to over 14inches long. I loved her a lot and she will be missed. I talked about her a little bit on Day 83: Signs-Pisces.

Artful Blogging Magazine

So, instead of waiting for my copy I went out and found one locally. I LOVE it! This magazine is so well done with beautiful images from a slew of different kinds of artists. I highly recommend it (and not just because I am in it). Artful Blogging can be found online and at local stores (Borders, Barnes & Noble, etc)

Also, one a misc. note I just went and upload the new version of my website, sagworks 4.0

I am actually the image they use for the you tube thumbnail image. Enjoy!

the art

All my artwork is made of paper. It is only created using paper, glue, and patience. The works on this site represent the pieces that I am attempting to create each weekday. These pieces are available to purchase and once an original is sold prints will become available. Other work can be viewed on my main site - www.sagworks.com. Larger works are available to purchase as originals or prints through sagworks.com. I am also available for commissioned pieces.
