YEAH! This commission is done!!!! I finished it tonight and I think I really outdid myself. It is 3 panels and seeing them separately they look really good, but when they are side by side I can believe how amazing they look. Now I like what I do, but I always can find a flaw or something I did better – though this work is in my opinion the best pieces I have done to date/ Hopefully he purchaser and the new owner will love them the way I do. Hopefully, they will also give me permission to show them off. I still have to frame them – but the cutting part is completed.
I also got some prints together – signed, numbered, and packaged, so I will have some on hand on Saturday for the DEKKA Art Party. It should be a good time. If it is any incentive my hair will be neon red and I am baking brownies!!!!
I also spent time working on new postcards to go to printer, I’ll be posting them in a week or two with show information. There will be a nice printable invitation version as well.
No picture right now, I am not too tired to process one to go online – tomorrow I will post something pretty I promise!

I did not go into the studio yesterday – instead I went to bed at 7:30. I really needed it!
Though today I redeemed myself. I got the last part of this current commission 85% completed. I want to make some slight changes to the background – but I do not predict any problems with getting this done tomorrow. I spent a lot of time trying to figure the best way to do this and it paid off – b/c the actual construction went smoothly.

This piece will also most likely be on display from 09/08/08 – 10/10/08 at Ward Center for the Arts. This is a larger work measuring 22″ x 14″ and is framed to roughly 30″ x 24″ and is $750. Prints are also available of this for $75 unframed (and unmatted). Email me for more information.

I went into DEKKA today and was shown how the operation works. I also worked on the last drawing part of this current commission. I sent it to the commissioner for approval. I think it looks pretty good. After this is done, I have the next piece I will be working on already in my mind, so hopefully by the end of this week or next week I will have some pictures to show off.

Well today involved quite a bit of running around. Though I did do what I wanted to do. I got one copy of the Hula girl print (5/100) matted and into a nice frame. This is one of the few things that actually went right the first time. No overcuts, no rips, no random marks – nothing – just a nicely matted print. This particular framed print will be hanging at DEKKA. I think I will be framing another copy of the print to hang in Brooklandville next month.
This print framed is $125, $50 unframed/unmatted.

YEAH!!!! Piece 2 of 3 from this latest commission is completed. This one wa a lot of work, but it came together beautifully. This one was set up for everything to come together perfectly. I did not put things together just in case some creative gluing was necessary. Though I am super happy to report it came together beautifully – it the same position and angles as the photo. This one took probably twice the amount of time I expected it to – but it was worth it! Hopefully after it is done and gifted I will get to show it off to everyone.

OK, so I did not get the piece finished tonight – but I did get closer. There are just so many little pieces. One item is about 1/2 inch tall by 1/4 wide and is made up of 14 individual pieces of paper. I kept losing the super small pieces. Though I did make a good amount of progress and I should be able to finish tomorrow.
{click for a larger image} Again this is another work from 2005 as part of the Beauty Ritual series. This is the Beauty Ritual #6 – Manicure. This is the other half of the piece I showed yesterday – Pedicure.

Did not get as much completed as I would have liked. This piece is complicated and I spent quite a bit of time reconfiguring out my drawing. I needed to spend the time studying the photograph so I can get the likeness dead on. My initial drawing was a bit confusing and needed to be cleaned up. Though now after spending the time it all makes sense. It is still complicated – but it makes sense now. I hope to finish it tomorrow (or come close to it)
{click for a larger image} Since I can’t put up photos of the commission progress I have decided to show off an older work. This is Beauty Ritual #7 – Pedicure, this is one of 12 works as part of this series that I completed in 2005. Most likely 8 of these works (including this one) will be on display on 09/08/08 – 10/10/08 at Ward Center for the Arts, St.Paul’s School in Brooklandville, MD. This is a larger work measuring 22″ x 14″ and is framed to roughly 30″ x 24″ and is $750. Prints are also available of this for $75 unframed (and unmatted) Email me for more information.

Wednesday 7/23/08 – another good day
This second part of the current commission has a lot of complicated cuts. I had hoped to get more completed of the piece, but I am really happy with what I did. I think it is coming together so well – there is a lot of movement to capture and I do think I am making it work. YEAH!
