Sunday – 08/31/08 :: I am a baby fish momma!!!!
So my husband has been working hard on making our fishtanks super spiffy. Well today we needed to move some fish which looked like they may be sick to our hospital tank for medication. Though while he was checking out the other fish he found little fish babies. Now we can’t identify which fish these are yet, but I hope they live long enough for us to tell. We think they have to either be red velvet swordtails (which were the ones we moved) or Cory’s – since those are the only ones that are in sets. Though we have only had the swordtails a week and none of the girl fish looked pregnant. Time will tell, but I am excited!!!!

So I did not make any real accomplishments today. I was planning to go into the studio, but got slammed with design work today. Then I got to spend some time with my mother-in-laws new kitten. So that relaxation time was good for me. Plus the parking lots to the center where my space is, is blocked out for the Labor Day Festival so I will need to walk there – and today it was raining.
Though wanted to give everyone something visual today. So here is the flyer for next week’s DEKKA art open house. It happens on Saturday Sept. 6 from 3-7.

So the only think I did yesterday was make some labels for the one art show. I had every intention of going into the studio and working on DNA – but I started to not feel well, so instead I went to sleep. Though this morning I got a great surprise to find Scott had gotten another super cool photo up – this one in color.

With all the framing going on, I got a little behind on some other tasks. I spent today catching up and starting to work up a plan for my next piece. I have the thought in my mind, but nothing on paper just yet.
Today also I was happy to see a few pics that Scott Speck took of me with his pinhole camera on Saturday. Here are 2 of my favs right now. He just got the negatives back today so I have to be patient while he goes through them. The first one is on flickr and more should up there soon.

Monday 08/25/08 –
I can officially say I have all the artwork ready for the Arlington show. My husband and I went and got eyes and wires onto all the works still needing them. Preparing for a show with a large number of works is always difficult and a bit stressful. Though seeing all the pieces together and seeing the fruits of all my labor make it all worth it. I am so proud of all of these pieces and I an not wait to share them all!!!!

Today was a lot of fun. I spent about 6 hours modeling for a photographer friend of mine. I got to work and pose for Scott Speck – pinhole photographer phenom. He really is so talented and it was my honor to do this. He is wanting to start playing with portraits of artists and using color more. So I slapped on my red wig and some bright dresses and boots and had some fun. Hopefully I will get the chance to show you some photos soon. Here was my perspective for most of the day. { check out Scott’s work : website | flickr }

Also I totally forgot I have not shared this super cool photo with you that was taken of me by another super talented photographer – this one a Holga Photographer, Erin Antognoli. She takes some amazing photos as well. I love both of these different styles, because they can take some basic and normal and make it amazing looking by their shooting styles. { check out erin’s work : website}

Today’s adventure was just what I was needing. I was in a bad mood due to all the framing, so this was a great release and I got a chance to act silly and relax.

Friday 08/22/08 – the last day of framing?
So I went in and framed what I think may be the last set needing frames. I do have one work which is not in a new home just yet – since it is the piece I forgot a frame for. Though that is one work, I think I have framed everything else. A rough estimate is about 60 works that I framed in the past 2 weeks. I am amazed!!!! Everything is officially done for Arlington. Though I still need to go through my exhibition report for the Ward Center to make sure – but I do think I only have the one work left. I feel I should be relived, but it has not really hit me yet….

The pile of works for the Arlington show minus 6 pieces (either at home or not framed just yet)
Today was busy – but I did very little framing. I spent quite a bit of time getting the piece listing finalized to get sent on for printing and the like. I also went on a frame run and half way home I realized I forgot about one piece entirely. This means I have to get back to get another frame. I also went on a quest locally to find a spool of framing wire. Could not find any and went to order online, but no one could promise that it be shipped out today or tomorrow and I need the wire by Monday to get that process started.
Getting the piece list for Arlington did not go easy either. I got the list complete, then realized I had not included several pieces which I wanted to – so I had to go and juggle things around. Then I went into the studio and realized that I did not frame one of the pieces.
Point of this rant is that I am not done. I see the light at the end with only a handful of pieces left to frame – but this just seems never ending!!

082008-more framing
I framed again today. I gt a lot accomplished and I can see the light at the end of this tunnel. Seriously there are not too many works left needing frames. Today I got 10 pieces done. I am exhausted and am going to be bed now – its 9:30 and my bedtime!

August 19, 2008 -even less interesting than framing…
As if there is anything less interesting than framing it is measuring for frames. Yes, today I measured the works for frames that I currently I have. So tomorrow I theoretically can just go and start cutting window mats and get these 9 pieces into frames. My goal is to get all these done tomorrow. I am three frames short and hope to get over on Thursday and get those and then get those into frames. If I can get all these new works into frames this week I will feel so much more confident and prepared for these shows. Then I can move onto to updating older frames.
Though, I did get to do one fun thing tonight – I made a box! I store unframed artworks in special long term archival storage bags. Though with so many of the works now being framed I need something much smaller to store those in. I was going to buy an archival box for this, but they cost about $20 and I knew I could make one out of the scraps of matboard I had. I think this makes me smart – though I know some of you now just think I am cheap (or crazy).
