Its been a slow weekend

So this weekend has been slow and rainy. So I spent most of it resting – it was prefect napping weather. I did get into the studio for a few hours and got some pieces framed, some drawings worked up for a new commission, and some prints ready for sale. So all in all it was not an entire waste.

Wednesday – September 24, 2008

I have several pieces going out in the next week for a few group shows in the area. So I spent time getting the 4 unframed pieces into frames and ready to go. I am 90% done with the job – still have to add eyelets and wire. Funny thing esterday I cut myself with my scissors while packing a box; I rarely cut myself while creating pieces. Point of this is, my bandaid came off and I can not find my first aid kit in the studio, so I resorted to using framing tape bits and pieces – I am so classy!

Today I also got the OK from a photographer to use an image they took of me to create a very cool and very large work. This one is going to take some planning – but I am really excited about it. I hope it is the start of a series.

Island (finally finished)

{click for a larger image} I finally finished the piece for last week’s illustration friday theme of “island”. So I did end up ripping apart the version I made yesterday – the material I used for the glass did not work out. That though worked out better in the end because I think this version is stronger.  I LOVE the paper I used for the cup – it has such a thatchy texture to it – looks like a woven cup. My favorite part is the pineapple (even though I am allergic to them) – I am so pleased with how the rind turned out.

8″x 10″ :: $350 framed original piece. 16″ x 20″ framed

Email for availability and payment directions or for more information – like larger and more detailed images.

Also anyone interested in purchasing a Roland proof press – I have one for sale.

Island Status – 09/22/08

{click for a larger image} Not finished yet, but close. I am waiting to see how the glass material I used sets overnight. I also need to work on a background. If I get a chance to go into the studio tomorrow, I should be able to get it finished. I am really happy with how the pineapple turned out.

More fish babies….

Well I know this is not art related, but I am too proud not to share. So my husband woke me up today to tell me there were fish babies in out small “timeout” tank. I run downstairs and I think we counted at least 12. The first group of fish babies from a few weeks ago did not make it, but this batch looks a lot bigger than the other set. With this birth we know what kind of fish they are – red velvet swordtails.

Other than that I am still feeling a bit under the weather. My sinuses feel like they are going to implode and I feel so worn out and beat up. I do know when feeling like cutting is just going to lead to an accident – and those type of accidents can be messy.

the art

All my artwork is made of paper. It is only created using paper, glue, and patience. The works on this site represent the pieces that I am attempting to create each weekday. These pieces are available to purchase and once an original is sold prints will become available. Other work can be viewed on my main site - www.sagworks.com. Larger works are available to purchase as originals or prints through sagworks.com. I am also available for commissioned pieces.
