013009 – HOCO Reception

I worked all day and was not able to make it in the studio today. Though I just returned from the reception for “Fluid Identity” at the Howard County Center for the Arts in Ellicott City. It was a very nice reception and was great to meet so many new people. As an added bonus I won one of the door prizes (YAH!!!!! I am a WINNER!!!!)

012809 – mats cut

I braved the ice this morning and made my way to the studio (actually all the streets in my neighborhood were fine). I got 15 more mats cut. The works are safely inside waiting for frames. If I can go for 2 more of these mat cutting marathon sessions I should be so close to having all the necessary mats cut. After all this my right arm is going to be so strong! Right now though it is sore and noodle like.

Also I went ahead and measured PinUp1 and am attempting to order a frame for it. I want to make sure to pick out the right frame and have enough spacing around the work not to overwhelm and not to crowd the work.

012709 – more signatures

012709-signatures

Yesterday I had a really bad allergy attack that knocked me out for a day and a half. After what I am calling “nap therapy” I was feeling better enough to try cutting some more signatures. It went well tonight and I got either 10 or 11 cut. I used up the piece of paper I brought home for signatures. I have to say I think these are some of the best signatures thus far. So it looks like I have 10 left to do. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to go in and get some more mats cut (though it is not really an option – must get it done)

I also got in the last 5 proofs of prints and they look really good. Original sales may be on hold, but prints are available – everything has had a proof ordered, so prints should be in stock in 2 weeks from order date.

So today domestic life took over and I only ended up cutting five signatures. Though it is five more than yesterday….

012309 – mats cut

So today I shook things up and spent my studio time cutting mats. I got 18 window mats cut and prints already in them. These pieces just need to be inserted into frames. Cutting mats is tiring an my shoulder and one arm are TIRED. If my count is correct  have 51 prints left to have mats cut. I was planning on cutting some more signatures tonight, but took some cold medicine to fight getting my husband’s cold and I am starting to feel the effects. I think using a knife would be a VERY bad idea.

012309-obama-cubeThough before I took my medicine I did a fun little papercraft. Here is my Obama cube. Thanks to nerdlike for posting it and extra thanks to cube craft for creating it. I will be making several more of their cubes including the greatest cartoon character ever – GIR!!!!!

I almost did not want to post the picture, b/c I want to leave one for a friend who is currently out of town.

012209 – more signatures

I was really not that motivated today to cut any mats. Instead I went and cut another 10 signatures and my hand is now sore. I think I only need 11 more signatures. Tomorrow will be a mat cutting day for sure though. I also got one art application out.

012109 – just more signatures

I did not get a chance to get into the studio today, though this time it was due to work. I got done with my workday at close to 11pm (w/o completing everything – sorry Dawn) and decided just to cut signatures at home. I am disappointed that I only got 5 done before my hand cramped up. So Right now I have 20 signatures cut and will need 21 more. Hopefully tomorrow I will get a chance to get some mats cut.

012009 – more signatures

First off, happy inauguration day!

So I spent most of the past few days hanging out with my husband and slacking off. Today I spent a nice chunk of my day at a wonderfully fun inauguration brunch. Though I did get a chance to cut a few more signatures this evening. I hope tomorrow my arm heals a bit more so I will have the strength to lift the mat cutter and get back to framing. All the remaining items are prints and they all get windows cut – so lifting the mat cutter is a must at this point. Last night my arm felt like it was about to rip out of its socket – but today it is feeling a lot better, so I have faith that if not tomorrow then on Thursday I will be able to lift it.

Also, I got my professional photos back of Pinup tonight and I am quite happy with the results. They do have a lot of shadows and the color is a tad off, but I know I can fix all that in photoshop. The detail of the carpet and he lace came out really nice.

Video showcasing signature cutting

I have gotten quite a few requests for a video of me cutting a signature, VIOLA! Introducing my second YouTube video – it is an action packed 2 minutes of cutting! I have got close to 30 more signatures to cut for my new prints – but this is a start.

011609 – Framing update

011608-frames

Well I got all the originals framed (YEAH). This is 65+ newly framed originals. I took a tumble going to out to my car – I am OK, but very sore and am spending my time resting. I also have received all but 5 prints from the printer yesterday. Tomorrow I hope to go and take an inventory to make sure I have everything. Then I need to start framing some 65+ prints and cut about 41 signatures for the new prints. If my arm feels better tomorrow I will get started on this.

the art

All my artwork is made of paper. It is only created using paper, glue, and patience. The works on this site represent the pieces that I am attempting to create each weekday. These pieces are available to purchase and once an original is sold prints will become available. Other work can be viewed on my main site - www.sagworks.com. Larger works are available to purchase as originals or prints through sagworks.com. I am also available for commissioned pieces.
