022709-New work started
So this is something I started this afternoon. After seeing Coraline the idea of creating a work that looks 3-d through 3d glasses popped back up into my mind. This subject of a bizarre sea monster is a doodle I found in my skecthbook from college – so I probably doodled this maybe 11-12 years ago (geez!!!). I loved the doodle and thought it would be a great fit for my experiment. The background I want to do did not seem right, so I decided to step away. I will say the red really does vibrate when wearing 3D glasses.

022509-More framing
Got the last 5 mats and got the 14 pieces into frames. I have more prints in route and one print which I had forgotten about – so 6 left! I need to do an inventory to see what else I may have missed. So not to bore you with another framing post, I am throwing in a photo. In this batch of works I did frame 2 of my favorite pieces – cassette and pirate.

022409 – matting
So today was semi-productive. I got 9 works matted and ready to go into frames. For this initial count I have these 9 needing to go into frames + 4 more needing mats + five more prints at the printers. Hopefully tomorrow I will get the 13 I have in hand ready and be done with it. Then I need to do a total count to see if I am missing anything. I also hope to get one print matted and framed for someone who purchased it. My never-ending flu and lack of motivation has really slowed things down.
Let me say this if I ever did kill myself it would be with the head of a mat cutter. I am NOT suicidal in any way, shape ,or form – but man I am starting the hate the thing! All this framing is so draining.
The big one-a-day show is postponed – the venue is not ready yet. Will keep everyone posted when I know things. Also I did not get into the show in California – have not received my submission back yet – but since the show opens on Sunday and I am not the list of artists on the website I think it is a safe thing to assume I did not make the cut (yes pun intended)

Making HerStory…
The Making HerStory art series presents “Making HerStory 4: Feminine Reflection,” the 4th annual celebration of women in the arts
Annually, we come together to celebrate one another in sisterhood and art and to support those who also value our collaborative contribution. 022009 – Pinup is framed

With the help of a great friend (thanks ssallykat) Pinup is now framed. I have to say it looks amazing (of course I am not biased). Sorry for the bad camera phone picture – will get a better picture with a real camera in the next day or so.

021809 – Busy Day (doing paperwork)
I spent a lot of my time doing paperwork and getting forms and such ready to be mailed as well as some bookkeeping – this is the not as fun side of being your own business.
Though I did get my membership info to join two professional organizations and renewed membership in another. I am again a member of the National Collage Society. Though I am also a new member of the Guild of American Papercutters and The International Association of Hand Papermakers and Paper Artists (IAPMA). I am really happy to part of organizations that are more specific to how I choose to create. They both look like great organizations.

021709 – Framing Milestone

After spending 5 hours in the studio framing, I got about 21 works done today. This has me having almost all the one-a-days framed. I have 5 new prints I have not received yet and about 10 I am getting some assistance on regarding complicated mats – I am so close. With this milestone I have framed 115 works since January 1st. My friend is coming it to help me this week – so hopefully next week I will have everything done and I can take an inventory and see if I am missing something. Once these are all framed and I get PinUp under glazing it looks like I might actually go back to creating more art.

021608 – more signatures
I am still not feeling great. Though I had my cough under control long enough to get a few signatures cut – and I used my new knife. The shape of the knife did seem to make it easier to have high control over it, w/o holding it super tightly. I was only able to cut for a brief period of time and my hand hurts a little bit, but it may just be I am out of shape. When I get to start creating a new piece I will run it through its paces. One thing though about the knife it rolls away easily.

021409 – Happy Valentine’s Day +
Happy Valentines Day. Hope everyone got to spend some tine with someone they care about!
Today was busy. I again did not get into the studio, but I was working on getting the entries in the Laurel Art Guild Annual juried show ready for the juror. I have gone through a lot of entries and am not even halfway through. Tomorrow I need to be finished so that Monday can be a studio day. Lots of great entries – this show will be quite good!
I also have officially decided to try something new and large and different for Artomatic 2009. Any theme suggestions? It is a complete experiment- but I know it will be super cool!!!!!

021308- still sick
I thought I was shaking this flu, but today am back to being sick. So instead of studio time I was resting. Hopefully I will feel better this weekend to make my way in.
Though I did receive my shipment of glue today, so once I am done framing and back to working I will again have all my tools. As a treat I ordered myself a new knife. I am intrigued to try out this shape to see how it feels – but really I got it because it is hot pink – and for those that don’t know me I LOVE me some pink!
