042909 – Pinup2(disorderly) COMPLETE!

042908-pinup3-disorderly-merged-sm1

{click image for a larger version} Finally got this onto its background and digitized. I had to scan this in 8 sections and put it back together in photoshop. Whenever I merge from scans it tends to take awhile to get it put back together properly and this was no different. I think it took me longer to do this than it took me create it.

12×12 show – Art show opening this Sunday

042909-artdcflyer

I will have 2 originals from the one-a-(week)day series on exhibit/sale. This is one of the few times any works from this series will be exhibited until the big show which I hope will happen sometime later this year.

042809 – computer work

I spent my day working on digital copies of my artwork. I spent way too many hours working on cleaning up the merged version of Pinup2(disorderly). I am close to having it looking really good, but am stopping for the night – I am tired of staring at it.

I also went and created my new postcard – it is a two-sided card featuring fashion and (subtract)fashion. Its a bit different and I like it. The postcard will most likely be debuted at Artomatic 2009. more info on AOM coming soon.

042709 – Pinup 3 status (almost done)

042709-pinup-status
I got Pinup3 completed, but I do not like the paper I ordered for the background. I think I have picked out the color I want – now just need to buy the paper. Once I get in on a background I will do a scan – this is just a photo merge. Of course there will be a signature on the work once it is completed. Though I am happy with how this all turned out.

042409 – Pinup3 Status

042409-pinup3-status
So I did work a wee bit yesterday, but did not have time to post. So here is what I have accomplished today and today. I was not sold on the wood grain, but I am liking it especially with the solid spokes. Getting the spokes to all be the same size and roughly the same proportions took more time that I expected – but it is worth it. I will say the headless and armless pinup looks a bit creepy. I doubt I’ll get any studio time this weekend, but on Monday I hope to create some of her missing parts.

042109 – Pinup3 status (including wood grain)

Today I worked on the ships wheel. After looking at it for awhile I figured this was a good opportunity to attempt to create wood grain. So the progress was a bit slower, but I think the beginning looks pretty good. What do you think? All the wood grain is inset. Of course these are only the first parts – they have not been properly fitted with one another yet – it will be a circle when it is done!

I got a little progress completed on Pinup3. I am happy with where this is going. I also got my new paper shipment in today and the paper I ordered thinking it would be the background for this piece is not what I was hoping for. So back to paper shopping….

041609 – Pinup 3 Status

I made some progress today on Pinup3. I think it is going very well. I had to work on a system to give more dimension to the dress for where it creases and I am really happy with the result. When it is finished you’ll be able to see it better – it is a very subtle effect, but adds a lot.

Here is a close up of the collar.

041509 – something to show

Even though I am feeling blah I always try to do something productive. This evening I finished up my reapplication to the artist in residence program in Greenbelt I am part of. Part of this application is to propose several ideas of projects that we can lead with the community. One of my proposed activities is for the creation of lil’ me. I wanted to include a photo along with the proposal.

So introducing lil’ sherill.041509-lil-me
I used a cube craft template as a start. I have added thumbs to me as well as the perfect accessory  – my scissors. I added my tattoo to my back, but the photo was all blurry. When I take real photos of this I’ll post something.

Lastly, here is me and Obama sharing a giggle.

So would you come to a workshop to make your own lil’ me on a Sunday afternoon? When a date and a project is accepted I will let everyone know. Not sure if this one will make the cut…. (da da bump)

041509-Sorry for nothing to show

Sorry for no new updates. Been busy getting a lot of paperwork and filing done and have not had time to get into the studio. I have been submitting quite a few applications to art shows as well as filling out some information and getting ready for upcoming shows. I am keeping my fingers crossed to get into the studio tomorrow.

the art

All my artwork is made of paper. It is only created using paper, glue, and patience. The works on this site represent the pieces that I am attempting to create each weekday. These pieces are available to purchase and once an original is sold prints will become available. Other work can be viewed on my main site - www.sagworks.com. Larger works are available to purchase as originals or prints through sagworks.com. I am also available for commissioned pieces.
