052609 – AOM Install complete

My Artomatic installation is done. I am very happy with how it all turned out. Hope to see a bunch of people out this weekend for the opening. My bar manager duties have taken over this past week and have not gotten any real studio time b/c of it. Though it will all be worth it!

Artomatic 2009

Artomatic 2009 is here and opens in less than a week. This Friday, May 29 is the opening party. I am on the 7th floor and showing some great stuff. I am also lucky to be surrounded by some other amazingly awesome artists. On opening night the 7th floor will be hosting a party on our floor and everyone is invited. We’ll have food, art, and even a DJ. Also the main bar is on the floor with very reasonable priced beverages. I hope ervyone can make it out it will be a great opening party. Also to make on your calender is June 13 – this will be the Meet the Artist night at AOM.

052109 – All AOM

So I got nothing creative to show for the day. I spent most of my day on Artoamtic related tasks. We held a bar class today for people interesting in manning one of our bars and I need to get ready for that. I am exhausted!

052009-AOM status

Today was another work day. I had to hang around the house and wait for a workman, so I did a lot of my AOM related busy work. For my space I worked on spray painting my baskets. I did an unusually good job on these. I am a terrible spray painter normally, but did this with thin coats and they turned out pretty well. I will probably put a few more coats on them before I  hang them. I also got my labels printed and my sign designed. I am hoping to get some info which I would like to go on the sign. After than I will just need to print and mount it.  So am really close to having everything done and ready to go. I also need to rememeber to cut out my missing “s”.

051909 – 3D glasses

So today was another Artomatic filled day. I spent the first part of the day working on official bar manager duties for the event and went downtown to submit a slew of paperwork.

Then after doing some work I went into the studio and made 3D glasses. Acually I made 56 pairs of them. This is about half of the templates which I printed out. I dont want people to take these and I hope this 100+ will last through the event. I forgot to take a pic of my stack – but I will.

051809 – More Artomatic

Mostly today I was working on my Artomatc “Bar Manager” duties. Though I was able to get the file setup and printed for my 3d glasses for doodle #1. I hope to crank out a slew of them tomorrow. I think I have 112 templates printed and ready to be cut and assembled. I hope people don’t take these with them – I am hoping this batch will last a while.

051709 – Artomatic Installation

My Artomatic installation is going well. Sadly two of my letters that I put up last week feel down. One S was rescued and kept safe by my friend and AOM neighbor secretworm. Though one of my letters is MIA – so  I have to re-cut it. Not a huge deal went and re-glued most of the other letters. It turns out spray mount can go bad….

We got the artwork up and taken down and repacked. All the hardware is up – but there are a lot of people in my area who have a lot of work ahead of them – so I just want to protect it from accidents. I also had to take my baskets down because I need to paint them. Also need to start making 3D glasses – and make a LOT of them. The only other pending issue is I need to make a bio/show dates sign – but I feel in good shape and really like my display.

051309 – my hand hurts

On Mothers Day my present to my mother in law was physical labor – my task was weeding and this killed my hand. It has been very sore since Sunday. This means no cutting for me. I have mainly been working on computer stuff and a lot of stuff for Artomatic. For those that don’t know I am in charge of the bar at artomatic and am working on the licensing.

It has been close to a week since I have gotten to work on art and it is starting to take its toll – I am getting grumpy. I am hoping that I will heal enough where I can work on Friday!!!!

051109 – AOM mockup

This is my second attempt at my mockup. On-site last weekend I discovered my math was VERY wrong. So I went back and did the math using the mockup I created earlier. The spacing is very close – but I really want to include the fifth piece. Hopefully it wont look too cluttered. We’ll trace out the frames in their positions before putting the holes in wall – so I will get a chance to review it. Another reason using paper is awesome – you can draw on it with pencil and then erase it to keep a ncie clean background.

051109- I knew I could fit this in my car (AOM)

So I wanted to get my 9′ roll of paper I used for my background of my artomatic wall from the van and into my studio. I do not feel confident driving the van, so I needed to load the paper into my mini. I knew it would fit even though others were skeptical. The drive was only about 2 minutes long and was only on neighborhood streets – so there was not a big safety issues. I got the funniest looks from everyone I passed – most of them were laughing and had big smiles on their faces. I am guessing this is the closest I will get to riding a unicorn.
