This is coming along nicely. The feathers are very slow going – they take about 10 minutes a piece to create. The feathers are all created using inset work, so all 4 papers are being cut at once  giving each feather a completely flat finish, the different colors are not layered. This process is slow, precise, and creates a lot of recycling.

Would anyone be interested in a small set of the work as collector cards? It would be 8 cards each sized at 3.5″ x 2.5″. It would be able to be framed in a standard sized frame if you like.  It would cost $5 or under for the card set to help cover the printing costs. Framing would be additional.

I actually started working on this today! I was not seeing it come together until I got it all assembled. Pretty pleased with the progress so far. Wish you could see the detail on the eye – it looks REALLY GOOD!!!! I am still intimidated with the main body feathers – but it will look so good when it is completed! His head looks really big here, but it a bit bigger than a quarter in reality.

Today was gross out and found I could not keep my concentration on task for too long. I could not get myself to get started working on the bluejay today – so instead I went ahead and busied myself getting prints processed. Basically when I order prints I immediately number them, though I tend to not put signatures on them right away if they are not claimed. The other day – I found several prints that needed signatures and I got 5 of them knocked out. So I have copies of Women w/ weapons, piston, metro, open, octopus, and shopping cart in addition to at least 10 other pieces. Also soon I’ll have copies of cicada, citrus, and rubik’s cube.

On a sidenote ony a trip to Target today, walked buy the cutest socks and I had to get them. I’ll have to wear them to Artomatic and stand next to my wall next to Banana.

I was able to spend a bit of time in the studio making good progress on the super secret piece, but mainly  I’ve been stuck inside with a bad back. So I worked on making myself a new hairpiece – I used a pair of children’s scissors as a base . I’m pretty proud of these and will wear them proudly.

Got my install for Artomatic today completed today. Happy with the work and how it all turned out.So  the QR code cut paper work is a key – try it out when you check out my work. I am on the 11th floor, space 253.

Plus as an added bonus got to hang out with my friend Michelle, we had a nice lunch and went through the floors for a quick preview of the work.
