072820- resin in leather

The resin was a fail for many reasons. I‘m working out some of the technical issues- but to be honest I’m not sure I like this style. I feel some of the personality of the medium is lost.

So I remade it in vegan leather and I love it!! I think it’s going to make an amazing brooch!! It can be ready to ship in a few days!!

071620- geometric jungle gym

This one almost made itself. I had cut some shapes and started playing around. I love this geometric jungle gym that it became.

I love the strategic places of overlap to give it some structural stability. It is backed in a single piece of vegan leather- so it is pretty sturdy!!

This can be a large pendant or a brooch. What do you think it should become?? It’s available- so let me know if you are interested!!!

030420- I know it’s been awhile

It’s been a long time since I have felt creative and I’m stoked that I am feeling this spark again!! I’ve struggled with making my art wearable for a long time and I think I’ve found a way to make it happen!

I’ve been playing with vegan leathers to make earrings and started playing with cutting it and glueing it like I do my artworks and I’m stoked because it works!!!

This is the first piece “mint to be” inspired be the mint leaves from my cocktail artworks. This particular one has a magnetic backing to make it an awesome brooch.

What do you think? This is available to purchase and I can also make custom ones too! Look for more designs soon- I’m loving making these!!

062316- painting molded pieces

While my paint job isn’t great- I am pretty happy with how these parts turned out. I tend to paint flat, so had to fight to try and add some dimension. I added some shimmer dust (ok shimmer/ glitter pigment eyeshadow) and it really accomplished what I was going for. The octopus has some weak tentacles- so not sure it will make it. But if it does tomorrow I think I will be rhinestoning it’s head.

Now tomorrow I hope to take these pieces, tulle, fake flowers, and some holiday glitter pics and create some magical and fun!!!

062216 – Molding parts

062216-model-magic-sea-creatures

My vertigo has been effecting me for the past week or so – so not really in the right frame of mind to cut things – esp. since most of the time everything is spinny.

Though the other night I got a crazy idea in my head that I want to make an under the sea headpiece for the show, The Little Mermaid, which is bring performed at the children’s theater I work for. Now I make headpieces for every show – but I was not planning on going big for this. I have been looking for seahorse charms for a while and I had toyed with molding my own – so I thought this was a great time to try it. So I got some chocolate molds and model magic and went to town. Other than the mermaid tail and octopus, the other parts were molded and then had details reinforced into them.

Right now these are drying, but tomorrow I plan on painting them – so on Friday can I can assemble the headpiece. There will be flowers and tulle (for netting) to really round it all out.

121115 – SIlver Ornament

121115-silver-ornament

I’ve been MIA for a bit – have a family member in the hospital – so been dealing with that, family, and life in general.

I haven’t had time to go back and spend time working on the bird – but I did put this together. It is another one of those ornaments/pendant I like making. This is a 3″ wide double sided one on a metallic silver background. I made this one for me unless someone else claims it.

112715 – Abstract ‘thing’

Again I am not sure if this will be a hair piece, a piece of wall art, or a giant necklace – or individual pieces. Just not sure what this will turn into.

I am treating each piece as a separate element – and we will see how it all looks when everything is done. I am using the same color palette throughout all the pieces to hope they look good together. So far I am really happy with how the pieces look. Nothing is glued down just yet. The small one is 1/2″ and the largest is 3″.
