Handmade Scarlet Tanager Polymer Clay Earrings

I’m creating pretty often, but I’m terrible about updating my blog. I’ve been making so many fun pairs of polymer clay earrings that I’ll be sharing. But these are my crowing achievement. Meet the Scarlet Tanager! I used my knowledge of birds and incorporated many of my paper cutting skills to create this one-of-a-kind pair of earrings!!

052417- oriental dwarf kingfisher status

I LOVE how he is turning out. I am debating whether or not to add the eye. There is something here so beautiful – I don’t want that changes into something else. The eye tends to change the chapter and I’m not sure I want to do that.

Also I’m trying to figure out a different way to do bark. I have any idea- it just isn’t all there yet.

Made a little progress today. I was working on getting stuff together for Sunday’s art activity and had some difficultly figuring out the order on him.

It is a start!! A pretty good start if you ask me too!!! I am pretty happy so far!

042417 – Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher Status

This is a small bird – but there are SO MANY COLORS!!! This little guy needs a lot of planning to get this right. So here is the drawing in a cut by numbers style. Now that I have done this I feel like there is a solid plan in place and hopefully it will make things go smoothly!!

I was avoiding working on a kingfisher – but in reality this was the bird that got me started down this path. This little guy is super colorful and quite cute. I thought this was going to be a little less detailed – I’ll need to be careful not to go overboard since the bird is so small!! But man – look at those colors!!!

I was so close to finishing him today. But it wasn’t in the cards I guess 😦

I should be able to finish him the next time I’m able to go to the studio.

So made a little process today – but got a decent amount of his wing done and he is coing along nicely. Today was an Artful Afternoon and had some lovely conversations and visiting with some friends.
